Web Slinging in my MAIL!!! (Repost) (10/4/10)

Symbiote Spiderman came in the mail sooner than I thought! I ordered him used on eBay so I wouldnt spend much cash but I seemed to have made a grave mistake. While going through his points of articulation, his Left shoulder joint soon snapped. This is yet again, another disappointing case of breakage due to Medicom and their cheap/delicate bodies. Unlike other figure companies, Medicom bodies cant withstand much abuse and usually cause collectors to either keep figures in their BOX, fix the problem, send it back, buy a new body, or deal with it. Unlike most people who would just fix the problem, I am currently stuck with Spiderman this way since his vinyl suit does NOT have a zipper and cannot be removed from his body unless certain sacrifices are made. Spiderman is the only figure (other than the Triad Toys Otaku body) in my collection that will have to stay broken. bummed

Unlike other boxes, Spiderman's box is a simple medicom box. I havent had a problem with Medicom's boxes in the past at all actually. Unlike Hot Toys and their magnets, Medicom usually has a snazzy looking design on the front to of course let you KNOW what you're holding and a simple sticky/Velcro(?) button to lock/unlock the cover from the box. I really do like the design they have for spiderman on the front, it reminds you how amazing the Spiderman movie was. I've seen various boxes of Reg. Movie Spidey, Comic Spidey, and even the Venoms and they all give me the same feeling of astonishment with their boxes.

The figure made me nervous at first since I noticed photos and video reviews about Spidey and nobody really mentioned his articulation. I always assumed that he wasnt very poseable because of his vinyl suit and all. Heres a couple of advertisement photos of him:
So you just assume that he ISNT very pose-able since hes usually stuck in those 3 positions with his legs BARELY moved. I've heard that the Comic version was more articulated but I just perfer the movie version since he looks great along with my non-anime looking figures. Anyways, I suppose he actually IS more articulated than I thought and that his suit doesnt restrict movement as much as I thought. He could move his legs and arms and torso just fine! I was very happy to receive him (even if his shoulder did snap on me).

I dont have much beef with this figure either. Only things I coulda asked for would be more hands! I mean come on! 2 web shooting hands and some FISTS would have been awesome! ALSO! MEDICOM NEEDS TO WORK BETTER ON THEIR CHEAPO BODIES OR ATLEAST MAKE A ZIPPER FOR WHEN CASES LIKE THIS HAPPEN! What were they thinking?! Also maybe an alternate head like a Peter Parker head or something but hey, I guess I cant get picky with this figure. The texture of the costume and spiderman's headsculpt pleases me. Everything else about him is more or less like the movie version. If I were to rate him on a scale out of 10, it would probably be a 7½ / 10.

Pros:
  • Awesome Appearance
  • Articulation seems great
  • Forgot to mention that the figure feels pretty light (So start web slingin'!)
  • Vinyl suit hides broken body mis-haps bitter
Cons:
  • Crappy/Delicate Medicom body
  • Breaking anything inside the suit = you're screwed
  • I've heard the vinyl suit eventually goes bad over time
  • Could have had more hands/head/accessories
I've heard many people complain about how Medicom was in charge for making Spiderman figs. I'm sure we could all agree that Hot Toys would have done a much more better job if they were in charge. I'm just saying silly.
